MKM failed is a fact, no need to argue with it. However, most limited podcasts say that MKM is a dynamic limited format with a lot of depth and synergy. Meta was not settled even one month after the release. I mean yes it might be hard for new players but everything has a learning curve, you don’t want new player comes in and just plays like a pro, set like ONE and LOTR are just too linear. If I want put recent years draft set in order, OTJ MKM WOE would be on top. Flavour wise, I was really excited they bring detective story to Ravnica maybe because I read a lot of detective fiction. But the story is a meh story, they should hire more professional detective story writer for the stories and evolve more guilds and their politics rather than introducing too many new characters

This looks like a very fun mill and reanimator deck!

Just going off of the name, I first thought the set took place in Innistrad. But New Capenna, which is coded to take place in an early 20th-century setting, with gangs and flappers and stuff, seems like the setting where you would want to set a murder-mystery themed set with fedora-wearing detectives.

For me it was just the detective mystery theme is kind of lame whereas the gunslinging dangerous Wild West was pretty cool.

Ok, so I always had a problem with the Dark Depths combo. If Thespian copies Depths, sure it becomes an exact copy meaning it assumes the amount of counters on it as well, no? If that were the case the new copy would have, let's say, three counters. The original Depth would be gone if you decide to keep Thespian so you still have three counters. The argument is Depths COMES INTO PLAY with ten counters on it but if you were to make a copy with Thespian since its NOT coming into play it merely assumes every aspect of the copied card including counters. Furthermore, if this were to not be the case youd still have to sacrifice one of them and if you chose the original Depths to keep youd have to sacrifice Thespian to the legend rule not to the cards ability therefore you'd still be stuck with a Depths with three counters on it. I see this is arguable and purely semantics but im sure there is a rule regarding board states and how it is not up to interpretation. I hope someone can explain this to me!

My cousins bf plays magic competitively and I okay ygo likewise so we have super cool discussions about the game cause I’ve played a bit of magic with starter decks before and he’s played early Master Duel. I'm not crazy about Universes Beyond stuff, I also wish there was less of it, but the Fallout set is my favorite UB so far.

The only roll for low I’ve ever experienced is percentile rolls my dm (and I as a dm) allow player to call if they want higher or low percentage I.e. players make a roll at 0 to -9 that’s a 10% to stabilize and not keep going down hp, player chooses if they want high 10%(91-100) or low (1-10) I’d even be okay (as a dm) with a player saying ‘I want 41-50’ if they really want, it doesn’t change their odds. Roll offs and rollies is always for a high number in my opinion though

I have a The Master deck and I’m surprised Phenax wasn’t mentioned in the upgrade list! Phenax + The Master + Intruder Alarms usually ends the game immediately

as far as world building goes, i dont underatand it for magic. if there was a place i could read it or learn it id be interesting. outside of that its a fun card game

I commend experimenting with Murders honestly, but why are they so afraid of expanding their worlds on return? Ravnica is a whole world of a plane! There are at least 9 other districts! Show us new areas of city with new characters in new environments, agents of the same 10 guilds. They had no problem expanding Dominaria to new continents, do the same with your beloved planes of today.

Did a commander tournament a couple days ago and lost to thoracle consultation on turn 3 never doing commander tournaments again i had to sit and wait an hour for the next round

To be fair Thunder Junction to many people was a let down due to how broken some of the cards are. It only takes a handful of cards to ruin a set.

I completely ignored these two sets, looks like they don't have time to develop the worldbuilding and just smash some ideas without any criticism, I think Duskmourn will have the same problem. Only Bloomburrow looks promising right now

I like Magic, but no excitement for any off the sets. With that said, still keeping my eye out for when a set that peaks my interest comes along. Just sitting out on buying new cards for the time being.
